TED Conferences

TED is on a mission to discover and spread ideas that spark imagination, embrace possibility and catalyze impact. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it spans a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives exploring everything from science and business to education, arts and global issues.

TED takes the responsibility of capturing the thoughts of the world's greatest thinkers very seriously and accordingly sets the highest standards for our video ingest platform. Feeds at our annual conferences are delivered to editors in ProRes 422 format immediately after each two-hour session, often with fast turn-around times for publishing to www.ted.com. We have strict backup, workflow, and performance requirements, and MovieRecorder meets all of them.

This software allows us to record to multiple locations for fast distribution and backup, supports Apple's M-series ProRes hardware encoding for high performance, and allows us to easily record 14+ feeds directly to full-raster, editor-ready files on a MacMini platform small enough to fit in a backpack - a must-have for traveling to venues around the world. MovieRecorder has absolutely proven itself here at TED as a top-tier video ingest solution.

Softron has been a reliable provider in the industry since 2008, and customer support has been both fast and reliable. Preserving lossless quality, fast processing time, and cost saving is always the goal for me and Softron made this possible.
