With the M|62, you can enjoy all the amazing features of MovieRecorder and the ones of OnTheAir Video Express in a certified hardware and software bundle. We have gathered what we think are the highest quality hardware components in order to ensure the best experience possible. Just connect theM|62 to your new Mac Pro, using a single Thunderbolt 2 cable, start MovieRecorder 3 and OnTheAir Video Express, and you are ready to start ingesting 6 channels of HD (or SD) and playout 2 channels on your Mac Pro!
The M|62 is a hardware and software bundle that we provide. It includes:
- Six licenses of MovieRecorder and two licenses of OnTheAir Video Express (on a single dongle),
- One SDI Video card from Deltacast card (DELTA-hd-elp-d 62) with 6 inputs and 2 outputs,
- One Sonnet Echo Express SEL Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis,
- One Black Thunderbolt cable.
You will just need to connect it in Thunderbolt and the dongle to your new Mac Pro and you are good to go. The only thing you'll need to buy is a Mac Pro, because, no the Mac Pro is not included for the price...
Softron has a lot of experience working with Sonnet and their xMac mini Servers and xMac Pro Server solutions. These are amazing products that have been put into service by a number of our users who require rack-mountable solutions. The Sonnet Echo Express SEL is the only Thunderbolt 2 device that is suitable for Low-Profile cards, making it the smallest yet most powerful solution to accommodate the Low-Profile Deltacast card that we chose for the M|62. As you can see in the picture above, you will notice notice that this chassis is very small - just like the new MacPro! AND most importantly, it is QUIET!
With the M|62, you are able to record either:
- 6 x HD (or SD)
- 3 x 2K
- 1 x 4K signals
And to playout either:
- 2 x HD (or SD)
- 1 x 2K
As usual, the system requirements will depend on the format and codec that you will be using, and we recommend that you run tests to confirm. You may want to check the system requirements tab on the MovieRecorder page.
The M|case is an optional watertight, crushproof and dustproof case made by the famous Pelican case manufacturer. We have designed a beautiful custom foam that will allow you to transport up to two of your favorite M|80, M|62, or M|44 together with a Mac Pro securely.
The M|family of products is an ideal solution for mobile productions. And the M|case allows you to transport it together with a Mac Pro in a small case. It is based on the 1440 Top Loader Case. With its strong wheels and retractable extension handle, you are ready to roll a complete M|family system to where the production happens.
The M|62 comes with the Sonnet Echo Express SEL and hosts a Low-Profile card. With its small factor, this very nice for portability. But for those of you who need to mount the M|62 in a rack, using for example the Sonnet xMacPro Server, we can provide a standard Full-Height bracket that will fit in a regular PCI slot. Just mention it when you order and we’ll include it for you.
The xMac Pro Server is not sold by Softron. Contact a Sonnet reseller for more info.
Download the Software you need
To be able to use your M|62, you will need to download and install the following software on your Mac:
To record 6 channels
- OnTheAir Video Express DUAL
To playout 2 channels
- Drivers for the M|62
How many Licenses? How many channels ?
The M|62 bundle comes with a dongle that holds your 6 licenses to use MovieRecorder and the 2 licenses to use OnTheAir Video Express (see available options above). Just plug the dongle to your computer and you are good to go.
You may have purchased an upgrade of one or 2 of the OnTheAir Video Express to OnTheAir Video or OnTheAir Node. In that case, you will need to download either one of them instead of OnTheAir Video Express.
